FC United slumped to their fourth defeat of the season with a 2-0 loss at Chorley on Saturday afternoon as both sides finished with ten men and the Reds suffered injuries to Matthew Wolfenden, Kyle Jacobs and Steve Torpey.
United went behind six minutes before half-time through a Lee McEvilly penalty. Andrew Teague then doubled the Magpies’ lead two minutes after the restart and the Reds were not able to find a route back into the game.
There was a brief glimmer of hope when the hosts were reduced to ten men on 77 minutes with Steve Flitcroft receiving a straight red for a two footed lunge on Ben Deegan. However, United couldn’t make the man advantage count and in the dying minutes Deegan joined Flitcroft for an early bath after committing a second bookable offence.
With Carlos Roca unable to shake off a dead leg from Kendal and Wolfenden straining a hamstring in the warm up, United were far from their free flowing best.
They did have chances though, Nicky Platt hit the bar and Daniel Grimshaw had a goalbound effort cleared.
